— from HPCC Board Chair -- I want to share with you some very exciting news. Healing Partners of the Central Coast has reached the next chapter for our wonderful work with cancer patients. We have completed so many "start-up" tasks required for new non-profits, and just finished our very first fundraising drive through the exciting MCGives local community campaign. We are now building our donor base in the community. Launched and ready, we enter "chapter two" with baseline resources secured, a vibrant and committed community of volunteers, and new leadership to head the way! ![]() We are excited to announce that Deb Saxton is our new President/Executive Director, as of January 30. Deb has been one of our key founders from the beginning: charting our course, strategizing our steps, setting up our organizational systems, and spearheading outreach in Monterey County. Deb was among our first team of Healing Touch providers here on the Monterey Peninsula and a key member of our first Board of Directors. She is a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner who knows firsthand what we do, how we do it, and how we grow it. I cannot imagine a better choice to lead us forward! To say we are in "good hands" is a fun play on words. Hands...and Hearts...are at the core of what we do. And being centered in this reality is precisely WHY what we do matters to those we serve. It just doesn't get any better than that! We could not ask for more....or better leadership...for "Chapter Two".
And thank you, dear friends, family, donors, and our community for getting us to this next step. Your support allows us to move forward with a solid foundation and clear dreams for our future. We are expanding our service to include our cancer patients' caregivers and our local stressed healthcare workers. We are making inroads into underserved parts of our community, reminding everyone that this vital service we provide is offered without cost. Everyone who wants this support will receive it free of charge, thanks to your continued support. We are ready to be partners on that journey,
and we can make a difference!
Reflections of a Year Gone By
Looking at the calendar, it is hard to believe we are on the door step of 2022. Where did the year go? Throughout 2021 we were shuttered, then things opened up only to be shuttered again. Through it all, we continued to work with our Healing Partners to help them find their way to a new normal.
Our sessions were offered remotely, which was an adjustment for our Partners. They did, however, gain a new respect for Healing Touch and learned there are no space or time constraints when it comes to energy work. Our partners benefited as deeply as if they were in the same room with their providers. Some even connected more deeply to themselves and their role in their own self-healing.
Finally, in October, after a year-and-a-half of waiting, Pacific Cancer Care allowed us to return to our treatment room located in their building. We began in-person sessions again. That personal connection had been missed by both the Providers and their Healing Partners.
We are grateful that we were able to continue our work during such challenging times, and get excited as more and more restrictions are eased. In the end — whether sessions are in person or remote — we are honored to do this work.
Making New Alliances
Collaboration in Progress
Healing Partners of the Central Coast has been working with Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital (SVMH) on plans to integrate Healing Touch into the hospital community. Looking toward 2022, we hope to bring the Healing Partners Program to the SVMH cancer patients. We also hope to develop a program that provides Healing Touch support and training for SVMH staff. Stay tuned to see how our collaborative efforts progress.
Our Ongoing Support of Those
Undergoing Cancer Treatments
Healing Partners of the Central Coast (HPCC) is honored
to be included in the Monterey County Gives! 2021 fundraising campaign.
There is no better time to give...
So many families have been touched in some way by cancer. It can be either a family member, a friend or oneself who received the diagnosis. Whichever the case... Every cancer journey is challenging.
At HPCC, it is our mission to support diagnosed cancer patients with free Healing Touch sessions to help them through their journey. We make a difference by offering them one hour a week to focus on self — a respite from the rigors of treatments. Healing Touch provides nurturing care that can reduce side effects, helps them reconnect in meaningful ways with a body that has betrayed them, and provides a safe environment in which they can be seen, heard, touched and replenished. The comments we get from our Partners are a continuous reminder of what a difference these sessions make. We want to continue to partner with this community, and expand awareness of our Program, but we need your help. There is no better time to donate to HPCC than through the MC Gives! 2021 Fundraising Campaign. Each donation made earns additional funding from Community Foundation for Monterey County and the Monterey Peninsula Foundation.

Our Heart Centered Healing Touch Flows to Our New Triangle of Need We at Healing Partners of the Central Coast have decided to embrace our changing situation and to focus our collective intentions to further empower those we serve! We will continue to offer our heart-centered, Healing Touch services free of charge to cancer patients, but we also identified two other groups of individuals who would benefit from our support.
![]() Adding Virtual Healing Touch Sessions The other big change we faced this year was brought about by the COVID pandemic. Prior to COVID, our sessions have always been offered in person. As the pandemic developed, we quickly realized that ensuring the safety of our clients and providers would necessitate changing our treatment protocol. As many other businesses have had to move to virtual business models. We have pivoted to providing virtual Healing Touch sessions. This means the provider is located in one place and the recipient is safe and secure in their own home. This change has been embraced by many of our clients. Even those who were skeptical in the beginning have become converts. We continue to provide these heart-centered remote sessions at no cost to our triangle of service, cancer patients, cancer caregivers and healthcare providers. Our goal is to foster resiliency and well-being in these troubling times through Healing Touch. We take pride in knowing that each and every session we provide benefits those we serve by reducing stress, promoting wellness, and bringing about a renewed sense of well-being. ![]() How You Can Help Us Help Others We rely on the support of our donors to help us continue to offer our services at no cost. Healing Partners of the Central Coast has received a generous $20,000 challenge grant so every dollar donated NOW is DOUBLED! This will help us reach even more cancer patients, caregivers and healthcare workers. Together, we can bring our healing services to those most in need during these challenging times, helping to spread well-being and resiliency one client at a time! We reach our financial goals one donation at a time and your assistance will help us bring about a positive change for the highest good of us all! Please donate now! |
